Weekly Riverwalk Newsletter

Dear Parents, Guardians and Students:

Weekly Newsletter

We ended the week off with the rain. It sure did create a muddy mess in a lot of places. We hope that you have all remained safe in all of your travels and that safety continues with you through the Labor Day holiday weekend.

Boosterthon:

You may continue to make pledges at funrun.com. All money raised will be used in our athletic/PE department. We are very appreciative of all of the support we have received thus far.

The funrun times have been postponed to September 5, 2017:

  • 8:15am (K-2nd)

  • 9:30am (3rd-5th)

  • 10:45am (6th-8th)

The middle school funrun is a color run. Please send your middle school student with an extra shirt to change into. They should wear their Boosterthon shirt or an old shirt for the funrun.

We welcome ALL parents and family members to come and enjoy the funrun with the students.

Dismissal:

Thank you to everyone for your patience this week in the dismissal line, especially with the stalled cars. We work very hard to keep the line moving and when these instances occur, it is very much appreciated when you "go with the flow" right along with us.

With that said, dismissal has been going so much better. We got down to 32 minutes on one occasion! Way to go!!

POL:

Many grade levels are already scheduling their POLs. Please keep track of your child's date. We encourage you to come and see what has been going on at the school. You are also welcome to come to other grade level's POLs.

Enrollment:

We are encouraging you to refer a friend. Mr. Stratton has a great promotion taking place to reward those who refer a friend and then enroll. We believe strongly that we have a terrific school and are so excited to share it with others. For more information on this promotion click here or visit our school Blog.

Pictures:

We will be sending information packets out about school pictures soon and picture day is scheduled for September 8, 2017.

Spirit Rock:

Our spirit rocks are for rent. You may paint them to celebrate a birthday or any other occasion. Information can be found online here or under the Spirit Rock section of the website.

Spirit Wear:

Keep an eye out for additional Riverwalk Academy clothing items that will be available for sale soon.

Sports/Clubs:

We will begin to send information home to those who are interested in joining a club or a sport. All sports related inquiries can be directed to Mr. Mark Wilson, Athletic Director, at mwilson@riverwalkacademy.com.

Hot Lunch:

If you are interested in purchasing a hot lunch, please visit our website here for more information. All orders must be completed by Thursday of the previous week.

Technology Fee:

Please do not forget, today is the last day to pay your Riverwalk Academy Technology Fee. If you have a financial hardship or need a payment plan please reach out to Mrs. Mabey at smabey@riverwalkacademy.com or pay the fee online here. Thank you to all of our parents who have already paid online or sent in money to pay this fee; we appreciate your support for our students and their technology needs!

Thank you all for all you do to help support our school and our teachers. Parents are a huge part of our success.

Sincerely,

Riverwalk Administration Team

Updates and Information

Let Me Run

What is Let Me Run?

Let Me Run is a nonprofit holistic health program for 4th through 8th grade boys. Using running as the vehicle to inspire, teach and reach boys, our comprehensive curriculum breaks down destructive male stereotypes that often stand in the way of positive futures for boys. Twice a week for seven weeks, our trained coaches guide teams of six to fourteen boys through the program, designed to amplify confidence, self-expression, and respect for others. Each fall and spring season culminates in a 5k race that celebrates the boys’ emotional, social and physical growth.

How can I register?

If you are in 4th –6th grade and are interested in Let Me Run, please visit www.letmerun.org, type in Riverwalk Academy and register! All information you need will be available on the website. Practice will begin September 26th on Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30 – 5:15 with the 5k finale on November 18th! If you have any questions, you can email Mr. Wilson, at mwilson@riverwalkacademy.com
